The Bell is a rare gem of a pub with an interesting history.  Dating back to the 14th Century, it was originally a private dwelling which was bequeathed to the village of Waltham St. Lawrence in 1608.

Iain and Scott Ganson bought the lease to The Bell in 2004 and have steadily built a reputation for serving well-kept local ales and restaurant-quality food in a relaxed and informal setting. The brothers are very keen to preserve the sense of a traditional English country pub. As a freehouse, they are able to celebrate an ever-changing range of mostly local ales, with each hand pump changing after every firkin. The Bell also has up to eight cask ciders and perries available, served directly from the cellar.

They take food very seriously at The Bell. From the homemade ketchup, to freshly baked beer bread, hams and stocks, everything is made on site by Iain and his dedicated team of chefs. From homemade pork pie to breast of mallard with a duck and prune fritter, or wild sea bass with celeriac remoulade, the food here is always a welcome surprise.
